We warmly welcome you to the Climate Security Festival 2026 on 16-17 November at the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Following the 2023 and 2024 editions, the event brings together researchers, civil society representatives, artists, climate security experts and others to discuss climate change related risks in an open environment and to envision a safer future climate. This year's festival theme is Shared Atmosphere.

Why Shared Atmosphere? The idea of a shared atmosphere connects the material and the relational. We inhabit atmospheric conditions together, but not equally: our bodies, infrastructures, locations and political circumstances shape our exposure to environmental change.

In this event, we understand climate security from a comprehensive point of view. What can a safer future climate and atmosphere look like from the perspective of civil society, arts and research? Moving beyond securitization, we aim to look at our shared atmosphere as space and community; as healthy nature and soil; as access to health and wellbeing in times of change, climate disruption, natural disasters and political polarization.

The event is free and open for all but registration is required. The festival’s main language is English.

More details about the program will be published soon.
